IID: Game Over.

Thanks to everyone from team 2 for a fun season - to my roster players for putting up with my grumbling when we couldn't win, and especially to my awesome co-captain Heather for the same reason (only more so!).

Remember, if you can't beat 'em, just foul 'em instead:

See you this summer.

Cameras and Bad Knees

Like anyone else with a vanity blog I have a backlog of posts and pictures to get through sometime, someday.  There's lots of stuff to post when time allows, but for now:  Some people throwing frisbees around (or alternately just running in to each other).

I haven't had the chance to shoot at games this year - on game nights I prefer to be home rather than hanging around the dome - but being stuck on the sidelines for my own game prompted me to break out the camera, push the ISO settings way past sensible, and try to capture a few decent (or at least embarrassing) shots of my teammates.

What part of CUT THAT WAY aren't you getting?

No travel.  The ground just backs away from his greatness.

The rest are in a gallery at my website here.

Ottawa Zombie Walk!

When a friend asked us if we wanted to join in the Ottawa zombie walk this year I just wished I'd known about it sooner.  Next year I'll be fully prepared for the event.

I was blown away by the effort put into so many of the costumes and the commitment that a number of the walkers put into staying in character.  At one point a guy who appeared to be shooting for a local paper started asking a very committed and creepy looking girl shambling silently by why she wasn't moaning for brains.  She snapped to attention (think resident evil fast-moving zombie rather than slow Romero zombie) and moved right at him with such convincing determination that he freaked out, dropped the camera to the neck strap and ran for it!  Awesome.

Here's a few outstanding undead:

And there's lots more on a gallery page.

Braaaaaaains.

Going Social

I've finally caved and created a few social networking accounts.  Facebook still scares me, but you can now follow and connect with me on the rest of the big services.

I'll be reserving posts on this site for large updates with lots of pictures, and keeping small, fun updates on the social sites.  At least until I change my mind and re-do everything again.

Back to the Future!

Here's another reason to love the Mayfair Theatre on Bank St, one of the really special things about this city.

How do you promote your Back to the Future triple header?  With an original Delorian right outside your front doors of course!

Also, this is is another reason why I love carrying a smartphone despite never thinking I'd own one (let alone feel naked without it).  Pictures were captured on an iPhone 4, processed with a fantastic $0.99 app called Camera+, and uploaded directly to web albums (and posted to Google+) all from the phone.

I'm not convinced that broadcasting every part of one's life via a social network is good in any way - but being able to share cool stuff like this when it comes along is pretty great.

It's been quiet around here

But not at home.

Meet Robert Benjamin Thomas (or Robbie) born July 8th.  Those of you who check this blog from time to time looking for frisbee shots will likely be seeing more of him and less of those for the next short while.

There's quite a few other sets of older images in the queue to be posted online, but for now this little guy is the center of my world.  Wish me luck!
